All Great Las Vegas Trips Include a Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour

Time to visit Vegas? Be sure you see the Grand Canyon, too. When you do, be sure to take a helicopter trip. Learn which is right for you. Read this article.

When you take your Vegas vacation, be sure to take a chopper tour of the Grand Canyon because they are great fun. There are air-only and landing versions, but I much prefer the latter. These are the reasons why:

The West Rim is only 120 miles east of Las Vegas. It takes around 45 minutes to fly there in a helicopter.

Flights leave from the Vegas Strip and the airfield at Boulder City, a suburb that’s about a 30-minute shuttle ride away. Boulder City flights are cheaper because they’re not as convenient as the tours taking off from the Strip. However, the Vegas departures come with free pickup and drop-off service in a limo.

At the Bottom

You have several choices in tours that fly out of Vegas. The perennial favorite is always the one that lands on the Canyon’s bottom. The West Rim is the only place where flying below the rim is permitted and the only way to take a West Rim chopper tour is to depart from the Vegas area. That’s why this particular tour is so popular and the fact it comes with a Champagne brunch and time to explore the area on foot is an additional plus. There is a lot to see, plus you will be on the shores of the Colorado River.

The sunset helicopter tours are very popular too. You are treated to a magnificent view of the sun melting into the canyon as the lights spring to life in Vegas.

The Three-In-One Tour

Personally, though, I think the best of all the air tours is the one that I’ve heard people call the “three-in-one.” This tour lets you explore the top of the rim on foot for 2 1/2 hours and also flies you to the bottom of the canyon where you can take a boat ride on the Colorado River. Add some passes to the Skywalk if you dare and you have a comprehensive tour. This tour is the best way to see and experience the grandeur of the West Rim.

Everything is included in the cost of the landing tours including shuttle or limo service, park fees, lunch, tour guide, and taxes.

Be sure to wear comfortable clothes and dress for the weather since you’ll be walking around the canyon. The West Rim is quite hot during the summer. Protect yourself with a brimmed hat, sunglasses, long sleeves, and sturdy shoes. Bring some water and your sunscreen too.

Let’s Wrap Up

This article gives you some basic facts about the West Rim landing tours on Grand Canyon helicopters that fly out of Vegas. If you’ll be based in Sin City but you’d rather see the South Rim, you’ll need to take a bus or plane to get there and then get aboard a chopper. Tours departing from Boulder City cost less, but the ones that depart from the Strip include a fun limo ride. These tours offer beautiful scenery and fun adventures, so don’t miss out!
